a purple wall, creating
a moment of peace.
This weekend was anything but peaceful. In fact, it was quite the opposite.
Saturday morning I awoke to the sounds of a hydraulic nail gun, the squeal of a table saw and the rhythmic sounds of hammering. Bless their hearts, my husband and our neighbour were really trying their very best to keep the sounds of their hardwood installation quiet. But in a bungalow, concealing construction noises are as effective as using a band-aid to repair a broken arm. Not so much.
But it was really worth it. As you can see, my wardrobe room is coming along . . . slowly.
That's where these photos were taken - in my in-progress wardrobe room. On Sunday afternoon, I opened the door to the room and saw how perfectly the sun was falling across the grey-purple wall. It nearly took my breath away.
The light filtered by the tree in the front yard . . . the gleaming hardwood floor that symbolized to me the love and sacrifice of my husband . . . the feeling of utter peace when I walked into "my" room . . . it was a perfect moment.
So perfect that I think it inspired me to take the best photos I think I've ever taken for this blog. Amazing what a little inspiration will do, right?
Where have you found unusual inspirations?

Jo, these pictures are gorgeous! And I'm still blown away that your hubs is building you a wardrobe room--that's so amazing! And those red pants... also amazing :)
Aww, thanks for the kinds words, Shea! And yes, my husband is a keeper. He's amazing!
I found your blog via day2daywear.
I love the post about your brilliant husband and your plan for repurposing the spare room. Gotta admit... kinda jealous of the future closet space. Will be back to see its progress.
